- Check in Time: 2 P.M. is the standard check in time. However, if the
cottage has been vacant the night before, anytime after
10 A.M., provided arrangements have been made prior.
- Check out Time: 10 A.M. is the standard check out time. However, if there
are no incoming guest, a later time maybe be arranged,
provided it is made prior to the checkout day.
- Banking: Most banks are located on Trafalgar Street. Each also has
an automated teller outside of its premises.
- Churches: There are many different faith represented in Nelson.
The Saturday
Nelson Mail newspaper provides up-to-date information
and timetables of services.
- Conference Facilities: There are several locations handy to South Street.
Should the need arise we can secure space for your
meeting needs.
- Electric Power: New Zealand operates on 220/30 Watts, 50 cycle, D.C.
current. Most European, Asian, Japanese, Chinese,
and Australian appliances will work provided they are
fitted with the correct plug or adaptor. If you have a
European plug or other, adaptors are provided. *Special Note: American appliances are not to be used in N.Z.
- Golf: Green Acres Golf Club is perhaps Nelson’s best golf club.
Located in Richmond on Best Island which is approximately
a 25 minute drive from Nelson City. Tel: 544
Nelson Golf Club is located by the Airport and is approximately a
10 minute drive. Both clubs have rental clubs for hire.
- Housekeeping: A daily service is provided for cleaning and restocking of
towels, etc. This service will start at approximately
10:00 a.m. unless other arrangements have been made.
(This applys only for short term guests.)
- Internet: We have a wireless connection and if you wish to use your laptop,
we will assign you a pin for use during your stay.
- Lost and Found: Should you forget some of your belongings we will
forward these to you via mail.
- Mail/Postage: Mail is delivered daily except Sundays.
- Messages: These can be left by your friends or relatives via e-mail or
phone for your attention and we will be certain to pass them
on to you.
- Newspapers: The Nelson Mail is the local newspaper and an
afternoon edition is available from dairies, petrol
stations and supermarkets.
If you have a special request please ask and we will
endeavor to locate a source for you.
- Restaurants: There are many restaurants within walking distance from
South Street.
- Security: Bermudiana Cottage is equipped with the most modern
of home security systems. This includes, smoke, fire, and
intruder alarms. You will be issued with a remote entry
and/or code on your arrival.
- Storage: Should you be traveling around the South Island and returning
to Nelson to stay with us, we would be happy to store any items
until your return.
- Sports & Recreation: There are numerous sporting and recreation
activities in the Nelson region.
- Smoking: Bermudiana Cottage, along with all homes on South Street
are historical. We kindly ask that you please refrain
from smoking, due to the fire hazard in this historical area.

- Taxi Service: Taxi service is available in the area. "Dial a Sober Driver" is also available.
- Telephone: Most travelers in today’s world have their own
communications, be it cell phone or lap top computer.
If you are one of the minority that do not have such devices,
we will gladly give you a, "Loaner Phone," which operates on
a "Pre-Paid" system. These phones operate off of a credit
system which can be purchased in most dairies and petrol
stations if you have the need to top up. When you receive the
phone, it will have a certain amount of credit on it. When
you return it, you will only pay the amount which has been
used.
- Televison: The system we are linked to is "Free to Air." This is
all operated by remotes.
- Tennis: There are several courts which can be accessed for free.
- Yacht Club: If you are a keen sailor and longing for the smell of the
sea, we would be more than happy to give you an introduction
to the Tasman Bay Cruising Club. There are weekend and
Wednesday evening races during the summer months and
you may be lucky enough to secure a berth.
