History meets modern day

Imagine a cottage built around 1886, located on the oldest street in Nelson, New Zealand, where all the original buildings have been preserved. The center of town is just a block away from this quiet, quaint neighborhood.

Like many of the buildings on South Street, No. 5 has been completely rennovated, but unlike the others, it boasts photovoltaic panels on the roof and solar hot water. Although completely modern inside, the floorboards and doors were reclaimed from other old buildings and the windows are exact (yet modernised) replicas of the original.

No 5 South Street is now available for you as a perfect executive accomodation or long-term vacation rental.

  • Location: Within walking distance of all the sites and attractions to include: Trafalgar Street and the cathedral, restuarants, theatre, cinema, shops, churches and the Nelson Provincial Museum. See map.
  • Accommodation: Modern 2 bedroom ensuite cottage, to include entry/office, two living areas, dining room, kitchen and courtyard.
  • Kitchen: Fully equipped with microwave, large five burner hob and oven. Side by side fridge/freezer with ice machine, dishwasher plus many other electrical appliances.
  • Courtyard: Sunny and bright with water feature, Bar-B-Q and outdoor furniture. Well planted and lit for night time enjoyment.
  • Laundry Facilities: Modern Bosh washer and dryer.
  • Office: Bright and airy with desk and wireless connection. Post cards and stationery provided.
  • Garage: Lock up garage with electric door opener plus gated off street parking.
  • Eco-Friendly: Solar hot water, solar 24 watt electric system throughout house. Reverse heat pumps, plus passive solar heating from roof cavitiy. Double-glazed throughout, recycled timber floors, wool insulation in all walls, ceilings and floors. Some water saving devices plus most appliances have high energy efficent ratings.
  • Entertainment: Sound piped indoors and out. Two flat panel TV’s with DVD players. Ipod dock, so bring your own music. Plus CD player and small DVD library.
  • Other Amenities: Iron and ironing board, hair dryers, herb garden, bottle of wine on arrival.
